Thomas & Farris Student-Athlete of the Week: Melody Squires

Freshman Melody Squires has been one of the most consistent members of the Fike High girls swim team this season, making her this week’s Thomas & Farris Student-Athlete of the Week.

Melody has posted six individual victories this season, the most by any Lady Demon, with four in the 200-yard individual medley and two in the 100 breaststroke. She’s also swum in the 100 backstroke, and 50 freestyle as well as on Fike’s 200 freestyle and 200 medley relay teams.

The daughter of Rhapsody and Marty Squires of Wilson, Melody is an honor-roll student at Fike where she also serves as a classroom liaison for Club Unify. In the spring, Melody plans on playing girls soccer.

She is also a member of Wilson Barracudas swim team and the Wilson Youth Soccer Association ‘95 Explosion girls soccer team.

Melody has worked as a swimming instructor for the Wilson Parks and Recreation Department and has volunteered her time at The Brittany.
