Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week: Sam Ellis

Sam Ellis was a major part of his Fike High varsity boys basketball team’s two critical wins last week, making him this week’s Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.

Sam, a 5-foot-11 junior guard, had 14 points in the Golden Demons’ 46-44 win at Northern Nash on Tuesday then put in 14 points again Friday as Fike clipped archrival Hunt 51-49. The victories kept Fike’s state playoff hopes alive going into the 3-A Big East Conference tournament.

For the season, Sam averaged 5.9 points, 1.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steals per game.

The son of Bridget and Steve Ellis of Wilson, Sam played football and soccer at Fike in the fall and will play baseball this spring.

At Fike, he has a 3.2 grade point average and has worked as a volunteer for Special Olympics.

Sam attends Farmington Heights Church and works in the summer as a lifeguard at Forest Hills Community Center pool.
