Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week: Travis Ricks

Senior Travis Ricks helped the Fike High varsity baseball team to three wins last week, making this week’s Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.

Travis was 1 for 3 with a stolen base as the unbeaten Golden Demons started the week with a 12-7 defeat of North Johnston on Tuesday. The next evening, he went the distance on the mound as Fike slipped past host Beddingfield 5-4 in eight innings. In that game, Travis was 1 for 2 with a run scored and a stolen base.

In the last game of the week, Travis swiped another base in a 10-0 romp over SouthWest Edgecombe on Friday.

Travis leads Fike with a 3-0 record on the season, posting a 1.83 earned run average and striking out 19.

The son of Terrie and Bill Ricks of Elm City, Travis holds a 3.8 grade point average while taking honors courses.

He plans to attend N.C. State University and enroll in the school’s Agricultural Institute with an eye on a career in livestock management.
