Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week: Jasmine Pretty

Senior Jasmine Pretty had a big hand in a thrilling win for her Greenfield School varsity girls basketball team last week, making her this week’s Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.

Jasmine, a senior guard, scored just three points as the Lady Knights won 34-33 on Tuesday at Pope John Paul II in Greenville, but they came in the fashion of a game-winning 3-pointer with 12 seconds left to complete a 10-0 Greenfield run. In Friday’s loss to Fayetteville Freedom Christian, Jasmine led Greenfield with 13 points.

Jasmine has a 3.69 weighted GPA at Greenfield, where she is a member of Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) club. Last week, she also began a community service project, "Teens for Jeans,” in which she collects used jeans donated by fellow students to be distributed by clothing retailer Aeropostale to needy teenagers.

The daughter of Marie and Fletcher Pretty of Sims, Jasmine completed the YMCA’s Youth Leadership Conference last year and has volunteered her time with The SPOT of Wilson, coordinating a campaign to educate teens on the dangers of texting and driving. She and her family attend First Baptist Church of Elm City.

Jasmine has been accepted into the pre-med program at Virginia Commonwealth University.
