Meadow Street apartment fire Monday, August 04, 2008
A bathroom lighting fixture that caught on fire caused damage to a Meadow Street apartment Sunday night.
Wilson Fire and Rescue Battalion Commander David Aycock said firefighters and Wilson County EMS responded to 812 Meadow St. shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday after the county's 911 communications center was called by residents who suspected a fire in an apartment. Wilson police also responded to the scene. Aycock said the fire happened in an apartment located in a row of apartments on Meadow Street. The blaze spread to the apartment's attic. The fire, which caused about $800 in damage, was quickly put out by firefighters, and no one living in the residence was injured. But Aycock said the residence is now uninhabitable. Only one person was in the residence at the time. Aycock said seven units and 17 people responded to the scene. |
