Police tracking suspect Tuesday, January 24, 2012
Wilson police were asking residents in the Lakeside Drive and Queensferry Drive area to stay indoors late Monday night and early Tuesday.
Sgt. John Slaughter, police spokesman, said a man ran from a traffic stop and fled to that area. "We were called to a break-in at the Gallery of Flowers on Airport Boulevard,” Slaughter said. "We got into a short car chase with the suspect.” Slaughter said the suspect turned onto Senior Village Lane just off Airport Boulevard and pulled into the cul-de-sac. He jumped from the vehicle and fled from police on foot. "We performed a K-9 track that led us to the wooded area of Queensferry Drive and Lakeside Drive,” he said. "We are still looking for the suspect.” Police are in the area using their sound systems to inform residents to stay indoors and keep their doors locked so they can successfully track the suspect. More updates on the situation will be posted as soon as they become available. For more on this story read Wednesday’s edition of The Wilson Times. |
