Roosters and cockfighting paraphernalia seized Tuesday, August 12, 2008
Saratoga -- Wilson County Animal Control officers seized more than 40 roosters and cockfighting paraphernalia, including razor-sharp spurs, Monday evening from a home in the Saratoga area. Maj. Mickey Wilson of the Wilson County Sheriff's Office said he expects to make two arrests Tuesday and charge them with animal cruelty and felony possession of paraphernalia to fight chickens. It was the second time in two weeks that Animal Control has busted a suspected cockfighting operation, which is a growing concern for law enforcement officials.
