Credit Union Robbery

Wilson -- A suspect is on the run Tuesday afternoon after an attempted bank robbery in Wilson. Police are searching for a black man, approximately 6-foot-2, 220 pounds. He was wearing a burgundy wig, blue shirt, khaki pants and carrying a burgundy backpack. The suspect was last seen driving a white Ford F-150 pickup truck on Corbett Avenue. At around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, a man handed a teller a note demanding money at State Employees Credit Union, 3990 Ward Blvd. The suspect's note instructed the teller she had 20 seconds to put money into a bag. The suspect did not display a weapon, according to law enforcement communications detected by a scanner. The man fled on foot into the woods behind Toisnot Shopping Center.
