Wilson Co.-- Francois Gauthier, owner of Sunny Pines Farms, passion is reining, a riding style he describes as sort of a Western form of dressage. In reining, the horse performs elegant maneuvers with a unique flair, such as the style’s signature sliding stops that send dirt flying and fancy spins. His farm is also home to about 120 horses including five studs and about 50 horses in training. Gauthier has raised horses all his life and earned a degree in animal science.
