Rally backs sales tax increase Wednesday, April 16, 2008
Wilson -- Business leaders and school officials turned out Wednesday morning in support of a quarter-cent sales tax increase for Wilson County that will be on the May 6 primary ballot. The Wilson County Citizens for Progress kicked off their campaign to support the sales tax at the Wilson Chamber of Commerce. About 40 people listened to eight business and education leaders speak in favor of the proposed tax. Bill Casella, plant manager for Carolina Forge and member of the Citizens for Progress Committee, said he was pleased to be involved in the campaign, which he said would invest more in basic community services.
