Fuel tanker overturns on U.S. 301, gas spilled, driver injured Wednesday, March 05, 2008
Wilson Co.-- A fuel-filled tanker overturned on U.S. 301 near Kenly early Wednesday, injuring the driver who was pinned inside the cab for over an hour, spilling gasoline, and shutting down nearly a mile of highway in both directions. At about 2:40 a.m. Wednesday, emergency crews responded to the wreck in which the tractor trailer was travelling southbound on U.S. 301 less than a mile north of the N.C. 581 intersection, before it ended up on its side in the ditch on the other side of the four-lane, median divided highway. The cause of the accident has not yet been determined, and no other vehicles were involved.
