Now Playing: Whirligig draws more than 22,000 downtown
Monday, November 03, 2008
The heavy bass line and drums echoed off BB&T's towers Saturday afternoon as thousands of people swayed, shimmied and shook their groove things on Nash Street to the sounds of the Delfonics.
And, in its fourth go-round, Wilson's Whirligig Festival busted through organizers' most hopeful expectations. The festival attracted around 15,000 attendees Saturday and about 7,000 Sunday, said coordinator Judi Thurston. Hundreds of people attended the kickoff event Friday night.
In comparison, around 20,000 people attended during the 2007 festival weekend.
This year's Festivalgoers enjoyed themselves and the weather.
