Now Playing: Therapeutic Pooches Friday, February 13, 2009 Ellen Mazur brings her dog Rico to WilMed Nursing Care Center each Friday. Residents at the center are able to spend time with Rico as part of therapy. Duania Roberts, a recreation therapist at WilMed Nursing Care Center, said visits from therapy dogs lift the spirits of everyone they see. “The visits brighten their moods,” Roberts said of the center’s residents. “The dogs take their minds off of the other things going on in their lives.” Roberts said that visits from family pets are welcomed and encouraged.
