Bruins fell hard in first round Saturday, November 15, 2008
OXFORD — The “road to nowhere” proved to be just that for Beddingfield High’s varsity football team.
Early mistakes and J.F. Webb quarterback Antwan Thorpe proved more than the Bruins could overcome as a once promising season for Beddingfield came to a halt by a 37-18 count in the opening round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 3-A playoffs Friday night. With a third consecutive loss, 24 Beddingfield seniors saw their careers come to an end with a 9-3 record for the season. Earlier in the week, Bruins head coach Tyrone Johnson referred to the long trek facing his team as the “road to nowhere.” Amidst a mix of rain and cloud-like fog, Webb proved just that by ending what was once a promising Beddingfield season. |
