Now Playing: Fike falls 46-0 on cold night in 2nd round of playoffs
Saturday, November 22, 2008
GREENSBORO -- By the time Friday night rolled around, Fike had heard all it wanted to hear about Greensboro Dudley's football program.
There was no shortage of hype surrounding the undefeated Panthers, and unfortunately for the Golden Demons, they were every bit as good as advertised.
Dudley, the East Region's No. 2 seed, rocked Fike, 46-0 in the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 3-AA playoffs on a brutally cold night in J.A. Tarpley Stadium.
The defending 3-AA state champion Panthers only needed until halftime to prove why they were the No. 1 team in the 3-A polls nearly all season. By that point, they had already built a 30-0 lead while holding Fike, the No. 10 seed, to just 14 yards and one first down.
