High School captures New 6 Basketball Saturday, February 23, 2008 Wilson -- It might have been hard to explain his emotions, but it wasn't difficult for Tashawn Mabry to point out why the Rocky Mount High varsity boys basketball team was able to win the 2008 3-A NEW 6 Conference Tournament championship. Mabry scored a game-high 27 points and added 10 rebounds and four blocks in a 75-68 victory against SouthWest Edgecombe on Friday night in the Fike High School gymnasium before a capacity turnout.Rocky Mount lost to Fike in the finals last year but departed with the trophy on its second attempt.
