Tharrington wins FSA award

Danny Tharrington, program technician in the Wilson Farm Service Agency Center, has been recognized by the N.C. Farm Service Agency District 6 Employees Recognition program for his customer service and ‘we can do it’ attitude.

Tharrington has created several PowerPoint presentations for the state SharePoint site for FSA’s GIS system.

The purpose of this award is to recognize employees who have provided extraordinary customer service within the agency and demonstrated an effort to serve their customers, according to Debbie Houston, District 6 director. Tharrington is the second quarter recipient. He received a certificate and will now go on and compete for the District 6 Employee of the Year title.

Born and raised on the family farm in Dortches in Nash County, Tharrington is a 1983 graduate of Northern Nash Senior High. He’s a U.S. Navy veteran and recipient of the Navy Achievement Medal and two Humanitarian Service Medals for going above and beyond the call of duty during and after Hurricane Hugo in 1989.

Tharrington started work with what is now the FSA in 1994 as a field reporter in Nash County. He started work full-time in Wilson County in 2000.

One of Tharrington’s favorite expressions is “we can do it and we are in this together,” which he says helps keep him focused on what needs to be done to make our jobs better.

District 6 includes Beaufort-Hyde, Craven-Carteret, Edgecombe, Greene, Martin, Nash, Pamlico, Pitt, Tyrrell-Dare, Washington and Wilson counties.
