Saturday, November 15, 2008 3:00 AM County planning board weighs night club request By Eddie Fitzgerald Daily Times Staff Writer Wilson County Planning Board members will discuss a light agenda Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the Wilson County commissioners meeting room in the Miller Road Building. David and Linda Williams are requesting final approval of Orchard Trail Section III, for lots 22-29 on Scuppernong Road, west of the intersection with Wellons Court in Black Creek. If passed, final approval will have to come from county commissioners during their December meeting. The board will also consider a special use permit to allow a night club to operate at 4610 U.S. 301 South. The 8.21 acres of land, owned by Ralph Hodge, is zoned B-1 (highway business). Gonzalo's Night Club was in operation on the site after Wilson County commissioners extended the club's special use permit on Aug. 6, 2007 for a year. However, the special use permit expired last August. On Sept. 22, the planning department staff sent Hodge a letter saying it was discovered on Sept. 20 that the night club was open and he was not in compliance with the county ordinance. Hodge was fined $100, then he was given until Nov. 27 to get a special use permit, according to staff reports. Eddie Fitzgerald |
