Thursday, December 04, 2008 10:55 AM Two women rearrested in drug bust By Gina Childress | Times Staff Writer SARATOGA -- Two women, one who was out of jail on bond and one who is on probation, were arrested again Tuesday on drug charges after search warrants were conducted at their residences. According to Captain Billy Radford of the Wilson County Sheriff's Office, two search warrants were executed simultaneously on homes in Saratoga. "We wanted to hit both houses at the same time," Radford said. "We didn't want to spook either one of them." Radford said Selby Bass, who headed the investigation, received support from the Problem Oriented Sheriff's Team as well as assistance from three Wilson police officers. Latonya Moore French, 38, of 8257 Stancil Town Road, was arrested after a little more than 2 grams of crack cocaine, which was in about 20 different pieces and in various sizes, was found during the search, Radford said. She was arrested and charged with felony possession of crack cocaine, possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a dwelling for the sale or delivery of a controlled substance. French, who was booked into the jail at 4:38 p.m., was given a $7,500 secured bond by a Wilson magistrate. Within 30 minutes, French had her bond posted and was released from jail. This isn't the only time French has been arrested on drug charges. On Oct. 6, French was arrested on the same charges after the execution of a search warrant. On that occasion, she was placed in the Wilson County Jail under a $15,000 secured bond, posted it and was released later that same day. Frances Demetrice Darden, 42, of 6806 Main St., who was sentenced to probation in June for a drug charge, was arrested after the execution of a search warrant on Monday, where just under 2 grams of crack cocaine was found, along with a small amount of marijuana. She was arrested and charged with felony possession of crack cocaine, possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a dwelling for the sale or delivery of a controlled substance. Darden also received a $7,500 secured bond, but as of Tuesday afternoon was still being held in the Wilson County Jail. On June 11, Darden was sentenced to 12 months of probation for felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance in 2007. Radford said that because the Sheriff's office had received so many complaints from the community about the two residences, they wanted to have a quick response to the complaints. "We wanted to put them out of business -- again," Radford said. "The citizens in the community deserve a safe place to live." gina@wilsontimes.com | 265-7821 |
