GOLDSBORO — Two Wayne County men face illegal gun possession charges in a drug investigation involving federal, state and local partners including the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities arrested 33-year-old Michael Tomario Weeks and 42-year-old Elpaso Garner on Tuesday while executing a search warrant at a 707 E. Pine St. home in Goldsboro. Investigators were continuing a probe into methamphetamine being sold and distributed from the house, Lt. Michael Dawson of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said, adding that two guns were found inside the home.
Weeks, of Pineview Avenue in Goldsboro, and Garner, of Cuyler Best Road in Goldsboro, were arrested on one count each of possession of a firearm by a felon. Each suspect was booked into the Wayne County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond.
Weeks was convicted of felony possession with intent to sell a Schedule II controlled substance in Georgia in 2010. Garner’s conviction was not listed on the N.C. Department of Public Safety website Friday.
The Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Task Force is conducting the investigation. Dawson said in a news release that Wilson County deputies assisted with the raid along with agents from the federal Drug Enforcement Administration and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the U.S. Marshals Service Violent Fugitive Task Force and the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation.
