My name is Davonta Ferguson and I am running to represent you all on the Wilson City Council. Wilson is my hometown that I love and admire.

Our community is rich with culture and Southern hospitality. Many of you may not know me, and I would like to take this opportunity to tell you all a little bit about myself.

I am a graduate of Hunt High School. I attended Wilson Community College were I earned my associate degree in criminal justice. While at WCC, I served on the Student Government Association’s Executive Council as the parliamentarian. During my tenure as parliamentarian, I advocated for students’ rights and pushed for the SGA to become more involved within the Wilson community. I recognized the needs of the student body, which was to have a great learning experience while ensuring a safe environment, and an economic chance to succeed.

I have worked in the public safety profession for many years serving as a law enforcement officer, disaster responder, security/safety officer and also as a volunteer firefighter for a few years. I am currently serving on the city of Wilson’s Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Board. I am a senior at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, majoring in public and nonprofit administration.

My reasoning for running is simple. I want to improve the lives and well-being of the constituents of District 4. I see the need for better communication and connection between the residents of the district and the city council. I want to make our district a safer, healthier and more prosperous environment.

Thank you for your time and I hope to have your support come Election Day.
