PIKEVILLE — Three players scored in double figured for the Charles B. Aycock High varsity boys basketball team Wednesday night in a 57-49 win oer Fike.

Senior Charles Walker led CBA (2-5), a 3-A member of the split 3-A/4-A Eastern Carolina Conference, with 18 points. Junior Ashton Peronzini had 14 and senior Alijuan Moore added 11.

Statistics were not available for Fike (4-3) of the 3-A Big East Conference, which lost its second straight game.

Defense carries CBA past Lady Demons

PIKEVILLE — The stern defense of the Charles B. Aycock High varsity girls basketball team held visiting Fike without a field goal in the first and third quarter Wednesday night en route to a 39-30 victory.

CBA (4-3) of the 3-A/4-A Eastern Carolina Conference held Fike (2-5) scoreless in the first quarter, and after the 3-A Big East Conference Lady Golden Demons closed to within one point at the half, CBA held Fike to a mere free throw in the third quarter to take control.

Junior Kaitlyn Smith paced the Lady Golden Falcons with 13 points and three 3-pointers. Katlyn Parrish, another junior, had 10.

Fike, which travels to D.H. Conley on Friday, has lost three straight contests. CBA hosts West Johnston on Friday.
