Auditions set Aug. 3 for Apollo talent show

The Road to New York Open Call Auditions National Tour will be in Wilson on Saturday, Aug. 3.

The show is sponsored by Next Level Veterans.

Auditions are to discover talent in all types of music, dance, instrumental music, comedy, gospel, country, rhythm and blues, hip hop, rap, pop, rock ’n’ roll, beach music, dance teams, step teams, praise teams, memes, spoken word artists and classical music.

Auditions have two divisions, with children from 5-17 in one and adults 18 and up in the other.

Auditions will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 3 at Sallie B. Howard School for the Arts and Education. Contestants selected on Aug. 3 will appear on the national televised talent competition to be filmed at Sallie B. Howard school on Sept. 7.

The tour pays a prize and a chance for winners to go to New York to audition at the Apollo Theater for amateur night.

Tickets for the televised program on Sept. 7 will on sale at the school. Prices are $15 for a limited number of tickets and then $20 thereafter. For more information, call Captain Newborn, senior producer, at 919-323-6920.
