TIGERVILLE, S.C. — Barton College wrapped up its inaugural regular season in men’s lacrosse Saturday with an 18-8 loss at North Greenville University, but the Bulldogs will have their chance at revenge.

Barton will return to Tigerville on Tuesday to take on the Crusaders in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas tournament. The Bulldogs, who fell to 5-11 overall and 3-4 in league matches, are the No. 5 seed while NGU (7-8, 4-3 CC) earned the No. 4 seed with the win. It was the third straight loss for Barton, which got three goals from freshman midfielder Mark Crawford. Freshman midfielder Hunter Huxoll and junior midfielder Bodin Nichols each put in a pair of goals while Bulldogs sophomore goalie Matt Stocks made 14 saves.

TRACK AND FIELD 

Barton competes at Duke Invitational

DURHAM — With the Conference Carolinas Championships looming later this week, the Barton men’s and women’s teams got in some work against a mostly Div. I field Saturday at the Duke Invitational.

The Lady Bulldogs 4x100-meter relay team of Danyetta Ruffin, Taylynn Blunt, Takeitha Glaspie and Syaani Harris finished 13th in 47.96 seconds. Glaspie was 33rd in the 200 dash in 25.22 seconds while Jasmine Watson finished 31st in the 100 hurdles in 15.40.

Junior Micah Clemons was ninth in the men’s hammer throw with a toss of 180 feet, 3 inches, and 21st in the shot put with a heave of 45-10. Freshman Dalton Mutz was 55th in the 200 in 22.78 and freshman Deshawn Owens, a C.B. Aycock High product, was 63rd in the 1,500 run in 4:11.57.

The Conference Carolinas Championships runs Thursday through Saturday on the campus of Southern Wesleyan University in Central, South Carolina.
