CHARLOTTE — Another NCAA Division II assignment and another victory for the Barton College men’s volleyball team by a 25-22, 25-17, 25-19 count against Queens University on Friday evening.
The Bulldogs, front-runners in the Division II Conference Carolinas, remained undefeated against Division II opposition in hiking their record to 11-6 with their fifth consecutive win.
Barton hit for a .242 percentage as compared to a paltry .051 for Queens, which tumbled to 3-14. The match produced 11 ties and five lead changes.
The score was tied five times in the opening set and on six occasions in the final set. Lead changes numbered two in set No. 1 and three in set No. 3.
The Mandilaris brothers, Angelos and Vasilis, sparked Barton with 14 and 11 kills, respectively.
Oscar Fiorentino notched 29 assists. Michael Perez served for two of the Bulldogs’ six aces. Digs leaders were Wilfredo Rivera with seven and Perez with six.
For Queens, Marco Vecelio finished with 10 kills and Jack Mitchner recorded 23 assists.
