The Barton College men’s basketball team got a look at life on the road Monday night with a nonconference loss at Virginia State.
After Tuesday’s NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas doubleheader at Wilson Gym against Lees-McRae, both the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs will be spending quite a bit of time on the road. After Tuesday’s games, both Barton teams will have just four home games remaining — 13 for the men and 14 for the women.
The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs will be back at Wilson Gym next Tuesday, Jan. 8, but it will be nearly a month before the next home games.
The Barton men (9-5, 2-2 Conference Carolinas) have lost four of their last six outings with five of those losses coming at Wilson Gym. The Bobcats (5-8, 2-2 CC) are coming off a nonconference defeat Sunday at Anderson University.
The Lady Bulldogs (10-2, 2-2 CC) lost consecutive games at home in early December but bounced back with impressive, pre-holiday victories against Erskine and Converse.
The Lees-McRae women, also 5-8 overall and 2-2 in league play, haven’t played since an 85-55 home loss to Lenoir-Rhyne on Dec. 18.
The Bobcats are 1-2 away from their home court, with one loss coming on a neutral floor.
