Senior Marissa Stevenson of Barton College concluded her sterling women’s tennis career as the final 2020 NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Player of the Week.
The announcement came Wednesday from the league office although the remainder of the season has been canceled because of the coronavirus threat.
Stevenson, from Kirk Michael, Isle of Man, won the honor for the third time this abbreviated season and for the fourth time in her collegiate career.
The final match the Lady Bulldogs played was their home opener on March 12 against conference rival Belmont Abbey, and Stevenson triumphed at No. 1 singles as well as No. 1 doubles in Barton’s 4-3 victory. On the year, Stevenson posted a 7-1 singles mark and a 7-2 doubles worksheet in the No. 1 slot.
The three-time All-Conference Carolinas selection possesses a 54-17 record in singles and has compiled a 49-24 career doubles mark.
Barton’s shortened season ended at 7-3 against all foes and 1-0 in the conference. The Lady Bulldogs won their last four matches.
