A lot of people have been talking about the border wall between Mexico and the United States. I think this would be a very good idea. I don’t think we should have open borders. It is too dangerous! Former President Ronald Reagan once said “a nation that can’t control its borders is not a nation.”
Before 1846, the states of California, Nevada and Utah were owned by Mexico as well as parts of Texas, Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico. It was said that America deliberately went to war with Mexico in 1846 to win — steal — valuable western territory, and it was said we were wrong to fight a very weak country like Mexico and take away so much of its territory.
America did pay $15 million in negotiation for all of the land. Several years later, gold was found at Sutter’s Mill in California. I guess the Mexicans still feel they were cheated out of their land and gold. I sure do too! You can’t blame them for wanting to return to their homeland. This land was their land first and not ours. This is true!
It’s time America started loving our poor Mexican neighbors and cut all the red tape and welcome them back home! We have a shortage of workers caused by abortions and baby boomers who are retiring in record numbers. America needs the Mexicans, and so does North Carolina!
We couldn’t make it without them. Who else can we get to work on the farms?
