The surging Barton College men’s volleyball team vaulted back into the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas lead with a 25-18, 25-11, 25-16 victory against struggling Lees-McRae College in Wilson Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
Boasting a 9-3 overall record, the Bulldogs climbed to 5-1 in the conference with their third consecutive sweep. King (Tennessee) University and the University of Mount Olive share second place at 5-2.
Barton, under the direction of head coach Jeff Lennox, continues its homestand against archrival Mount Olive at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The Bulldogs hit a torrid .444, while limiting the Bobcats to an .116 hitting percentage. The ninth consecutive loss left Lees-McRae 0-8 in the conference and 1-10 in all matches.
Barton was triggered by junior right-side hitter Angelos Mandilaris with nine kills, while freshman outside hitter Adrian Iglesias provided eight kills and five digs. Mandilaris paces the Bulldogs with 162 kills this season.
Junior setter Oscar Fiorentino topped the Bulldogs with 23 assists.
