Community leaders hope residents will head out to the annual Bury the Violence rally at noon Sunday at Pender Street Park.
The event will include free food, entertainment, basketball, football and family fun.
Organizers’ goal is to bring unity in the community and stand against violence within the city of Wilson.
Freddie Williams, pastor of Atmosphere of Praise Church, and others have planned the event to help get people involved to curb street violence and send a positive message throughout the community. This is the first of many Bury the Violence events throughout the summer, organizers said.
