The following area businesses are offering discounts or giveaways for veterans with proof of service:

Applebee’s is offering a free entree for veterans Saturday.

Chili’s is giving a free entree to veterans and active military on Saturday.

Cracker Barrel is giving veterans a free slice of double chocolate fudge Coca-Cola cake on Saturday.

Denny’s will give veterans and military personnel a free build-your-own grand slam from 5 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Dunkin’ Donuts is giving veterans and active-duty military a free doughnut with no purchase necessary.

Golden Corral will give veterans and active-duty military a free dinner on Monday as part of Military Appreciation Night.

IHOP is giving retired and active-duty military personnel a free order of red, white and blue pancakes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.

K&W Cafeteria will give veterans a free meal from 11 a.m. to close Saturday.

Little Caesers is giving veterans a free lunch combo from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Olive Garden is giving active-duty military and veterans a free entree from a special menu.

Outback Steakhouse is giving a free bloomin’ onion and beverage to guests with a military ID on Saturday. A 15 percent discount is available for veterans from Sunday through New Year’s Eve.

Red Lobster is giving a free appetizer or dessert Saturday to veterans, active-duty military and reservists.

Ruby Tuesday will give veterans, active-duty and reserve service members a free appetizer up to a $10 value on Saturday.

Also, $1 from every haircut from Oct. 16 through Saturday at Sports Clips locations nationwide is being donating to Veterans of Foreign Wars-administered scholarships for transitioning military.
