ZEBULON — Dallas Carroll hit a walk-off three-run homer, as the Carolina Mudcats beat the Wilmington Blue Rocks 7-6 on Thursday in a battle of early first-half North Division leaders. With the loss, the Blue Rocks snapped a five-game winning streak, while the Mudcats (6-2) won their fourth straight and now lead the division by a game over Wilmington.
The Blue Rocks took a 6-4 lead in the top of the ninth when Sebastian Rivero hit a two-run single.
Reliever Matt Hardy (2-0) went one scoreless inning, allowing one hit while striking out two to pick up the win. J.C. Cloney (1-1) went 3 2/3 innings, allowing three runs and three hits while striking out four.
Joantgel Segovia doubled and singled, also stealing a base in the win.
In the losing effort, the Blue Rocks scored a season-high six runs. Rivero homered and singled three times, driving home three runs for the Blue Rocks. Ricky Aracena homered and singled.
