DURHAM — A former rival in a dissolved league has ended the season of the Community Christian School varsity volleyball team.
Formerly rivals in the 1-A Carolina Conference, CCS was swept in three sets by Cresset Christian on Tuesday night, falling 25-23, 25-17, 25-14 in the opening round of the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association 1-A playoffs.
CCS concluded the season with a 6-11 record in its new Coastal Independents Conference home, while Cresset Christian improved to 11-6 and faces No. 8 seed Wayne Country Day in the next round.
Lauren Pate paced the offense with seven kills and five service points. Olivia Bullard tallied 12 assists, while Morgan Garner had five service points.
Careers concluded for Emily Boyette, Anna Jackson, Bullard, Erika van den Brink and Greysen Winstead.
