Friday chicken plate sale canceled

ELM CITY — The Frederick Douglass Alumni Association’s Elm City/Wilson chapter has canceled a barbecue chicken plate sale that was scheduled for Friday, March 23. For more information, call 252-290-2394.

Church group plans fundraiser sale

ELM CITY — The Mount Zion Methodist Church Women will have an indoor yard sale from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 24. The Methodist men will have an all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. with coffee or juice for $7 per person. Children ages 6-10 can eat for $3 per person. Democratic convention slated Saturday

The Wilson County Democratic Party Convention will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Wilson County Courthouse. Keynote Speaker is Anita Earls, candidate for the North Carolina Supreme Court. Other candidates, both locally and from throughout the district and state, will be in attendance.

Republicans plan precinct meetings

The Wilson County Republican Party will hold precinct meetings at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 27 for Precincts: PRWL, PRWD, PRWK AND PRWP at the Wilson County Republican Party headquarters, 2000-B Nash St.

Easter egg sale ends March 28

The Westmoreland Pentecostal Holiness Church women’s ministry is holding its annual Easter egg sale. The eggs are chocolate-covered, peanut butter and coconut cream and may be personalized or will display the message “Happy Easter.” Each quarter-pound egg in a decorative box is $4.

Church to recreate crucifixion

Wilson First Pentecostal Holiness, 2000 Ruann Drive, will have a live outdoor crucifixion exhibition from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Friday, March 30.

Flashlight egg hunt planned

Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church, 5854 Shiloh Church Road ,will have a flashlight egg hunt for children ages birth through fifth grade at 7 p.m. Friday, March 30 with refreshments and activities. Participants are asked to bring a basket. For more information, call Valerie Kersey at 252-245-4486.
