Moe’s Southwest Grill in the Heritage Crossing shopping center, 3401 Raleigh Road Parkway W., will donate 15 percent of sales from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22 to Purrfect Hearts Cat Rescue of Wilson. Rescue group members and Girl Scouts from Troop 902 will be on hand to share information about Purrfect Hearts. Proceeds will be used for veterinary expenses, food and litter.

Stantonsburg board meets Thursday

STANTONSBURG — Town board members have called a special meeting for 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23 at Town Hall, 108 E. Commercial Ave., for a discussion on personnel matters. The meeting is open to the public.

Church plans fish fry plate sale

Music for Hope concert scheduled

The Music for Hope concert will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24 in the sanctuary of First Christian Church, 207 Tarboro St. N. A silent auction will begin at 5 p.m. prior to the concert in the fellowship hall with refreshments served. Dessert will follow the concert and winners can pick up silent auction items at this time. Admission to both events is free.

Free back-to-school haircuts offered

Church hosting spaghetti fundraiser

SARATOGA — Saratoga Original Free Will Baptist Church, 6801 N.C. 222 E., will have a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Bella Duff 5 - 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25. Duff has been diagnosed with small-fiber neuropathy and needs to be treated at Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospital in Florida. The spaghetti dinner will assist the family with medical expenses. Barbecue plate sale fundraiser planned

ELM CITY — Refuge Trinity Holiness Church, 6108 Justin Trail, will have a barbecue plate sale from noon to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7. Plates will include pork barbecue, slaw, two vegetables, roll and dessert for $8 each. All proceeds will go to support the Rev. Sonny Griswold and his wife Hope on a mission trip to Africa.
