Food giveaway planned Friday

By Faith Original Free Will Baptist Church, 4667 Evansdale Road, will have a food giveaway beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 9. Attendees are asked to bring containers or boxes. For more information, call Judy Langston at 252-814-7657.

Fall bazaar slated for Saturday

ELM CITY — Mount Zion United Methodist Church, 5326 London Church Road, will have a fall bazaar and yard sale from 7 a.m. to noon and 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 with sausage biscuits available at 9 a.m.

The Methodist men will serve an all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage supper from 4-7 p.m. Supper tickets are $7 for ages 11 and up; $3.50 for ages 6 -10; and ages 5 and under eat free. Proceeds will support church mission projects.

Zaxby’s holding mental health fundraiser

Zaxby’s of Wilson, 3019 Raleigh Road Parkway W., will hold a fundraiser for Mental Health America in Wilson County from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12. Ten percent of all proceeds will benefit the local nonprofit

K&W offers free Veterans Day meals

K&W Cafeteria, 1501 Ward Blvd., will provide complimentary meals to veterans and active-duty military personnel for Veterans Day on Monday, Nov. 12.

The meal includes choice of entree, two vegetables, bread and beverage. Military ID or proof of military service is required. This offer is available to dine-in or take-out customers from 11 a.m. to closing.

Crime prevention panels to meet

ROCKY MOUNT — The Edgecombe and Nash County Juvenile Crime Prevention Councils will meet at 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15 at the East Carolina Ag and Education Center. Meetings are open to the public.

Moose lodge holding Hunt chorus fundraiser

The Moose Lodge of Wilson will hold a barbecue chicken plate sale to raise money for a Hunt High School chorus trip to New York City, with plates available for pickup from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16 at the lodge on Forest Hills Road.

Plates will include a half-chicken, two vegetables and bread for $10, and the chorus receives 50 percent of the proceeds from each plate. Deliveries will be made to businesses that purchase 10 or more tickets. Donations for the chorus trip are also accepted.

Church plans harvest sale, supper

ELM CITY — Temperance Hall United Methodist Church, 3834 Temperance Hall Road, will have a harvest sale and supper Saturday, Nov. 17. A barbecue and Brunswick stew supper will be served from 4-7 p.m. followed by the harvest sale. The cost is $7 per plate. For more information, call Janet Tyndall at 252-442-8528.

Christmas purse donations sought

Southern Exposure Photography is collecting donations for its Christmas purse project, which allows homeless girls and women to receive old pocketbooks filled with small items such as socks, gloves, toiletries and feminine hygiene products. Participants are asked to fill a purse and drop it off at Truly Unique Gifts, 2006 U.S. 301 S. or Walteck, which is located inside Innovative Installations at 3850 Airport Drive NW.

Drop-off deadline is Dec. 14 and delivery to the Wilson Crisis Center for Christmas distribution will be Dec. 18. For more information, call Cheryl Hall at 252-363-2294.

Diversified Opportunities seeks applicants
