The Wilson County Democratic Party invites area residents to address the issues affecting Wilson County with a breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 6 at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 209 Pender St. E., featuring state party Chairman Wayne Goodwin.

Admission is $9. Attendees can pay at the door or send the registration fee to Wilson County Democtatic Party, Attn: Tom Sallenger, P.O. Box 27895. RSVP by calling or texting 252-290-0905 or emailing lcooper_suggs@yahoo.com on or before noon Monday, March 5.

Agribusiness panel to meet

The Wilson Agribusiness Committee will meet at noon Wednesday, March 7 at Parker’s Barbecue. Wilson County 4-H members will give an update on their animal projects for the upcoming Wilson County 4-H Livestock Show and Sale.

The agribusiness committee meets on the first Wednesday of each month January through October at Parker’s Barbecue. Interested residents are welcome to attend.

Bee seminar planned March 8

Attendees can learn all about bees with Marshall Dildy in an indoor seminar co-hosted by All Seasons Garden Club at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 8 at the Wilson County Agriculture Center, 1806 Goldsboro St.

Church plans food giveaway

By Faith Original Free Will Baptist Church, 4667 Evansdale Road, will have a food giveaway beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, March 9. Recipients are asked to bring a photo ID and boxes or containers for food items. For more information, call Judy Langston at 252-814-7657.

Arbor Day ceremony slated

Wilsonians are invited to take part in the Wilson tree inventory and Arbor Day tree dedication ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday, March 12 at the Wilson County Agriculture Center, 1806 Goldsboro St. Guest speaker John Sugg will lead a short presentation inside and the tree dedication will be held outdoors.

PFLAG chapter plans meeting

Historian to share Blackbeard facts

GREENVILLE — The Pitt County Historical Society will host its annual spring dinner featuring Kevin Duffus, who will relate startling new information about the infamous North Carolina pirate that substantially changes his story — and history.

The event takes place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 27 at Memorial Baptist Church, 1510 Greenville Blvd. SE. Tickets are $22.50 and include a classic Southern menu catered by GK Cafe.
