Mount Sinai Church of Christ Ministries will offer free hot dogs beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 20 at 809 Black Creek Road.

Mayoral candidate holding campaign dinner

The committee to elect Carlton Stevens Jr. for mayor will have a One Wilson campaign dinner at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 20 at the Wilson County Agricultural Center, 1806 Goldsboro St. Business casual dress is requested.

Church offers vegetarian, vegan cooking classes

Free vegetarian and vegan cooking classes will be offered from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, July 21 through Wednesday, July 24 at Mount Hebron Church, 700 S. Pender St. These classes will offer complete hands-on cooking classes with a facilitator and recipes.

Power Plex to hold scholarship fundraiser

The Power Plex Athletic Center, 2708 Wooten Blvd., will hold a yard sale fundraiser from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a chicken dinner plate sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 27. All proceeds from the yard sale and plate sale will be used for Team Power Foundation scholarships. The foundation is a registered nonprofit organization.

Foundation sets grant application deadline

The Wilson County Community Foundation will accept grant applications from area nonprofits through noon Tuesday, Aug. 13.

Funds are available for nonprofit organizations that serve general community needs in Wilson County. Grants will be awarded from the community grantmaking fund. Applications are available online at www.nccommunityfoundation.org.

Preservation trades meetup slated

Preservation of Wilson will hold a preservation trades meetup from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31 on the outdoor patio at Da Bayou, 124 Barnes St.

The historic preservation group is working to expand the list of skilled tradespeople and service providers that it distributes to those seeking contractors and workers.
