Town board plans
public hearing

MIDDLESEX — The town Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on the purchase of two new police cars and a utility truck with the assistance of USDA rural development grant-loan funding prior to the regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 9. The board meets at Middlesex Town Hall, 10232 S. Nash St. Members of the public are invited to attend.

Agribusiness panel to meet

The Wilson AgriBusiness Committee will meet at noon Wednesday, July 11 at Parker’s Barbecue. Lynn Williams, public relations manager at Mt. Olive Pickle Co., will be the guest speaker.

Wilson NAACP plans meeting

The Wilson branch of the NAACP will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 12 at Jackson Chapel Church, 571 Nash St.

Blood donation drive scheduled

The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at Brewmasters, 2117 Forest Hills Road, for a blood drive from 2:30-7 p.m. Monday, July 16.

Beddingfield to host stage play

Dramatic Ministries will present the stage play “Can You Feel My Pain?” at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 21 at Beddingfield High School, 4510 Old Stantonsburg Road. Doors open at 4 p.m. Advance tickets are $10 and admission at the door is $12. A portion of proceeds will support Pennies From Angels to benefit local cancer patients.

Brian Center, hospices seek volunteers

The Brian Center, 2501 Downing St. is looking for volunteers to perform one-on-one activities with residents such as bingo, church services, games and exercises between 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays. Community Home Care and Hospice is looking for caring, compassionate individuals to become companions to hospice patients in their homes or facilities. Training is free.Call Derek Bossolono at 252-291-5353 for more information.
