Scholarship fundraiser set for Saturday

The Power Plex Athletic Center, 2708 Wooten Blvd., will hold a yard sale fundraiser from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a chicken dinner plate sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 27. All proceeds from the yard sale and plate sale will be used for Team Power Foundation scholarships. The foundation is a registered nonprofit organization.

Women’s ministry plans clothing giveaway

The Barnes Chapel Church Women of Hope Ministry, 1004 S. Railroad St., will have a free clothing giveaway from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 27. Refreshments will be served.

Mobile pharmacy day scheduled

ROCKY MOUNT — North Carolina MedAssist will hold a free mobile pharmacy day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 27 at 322 Anderson St. during the Community For Unity Festival. Individuals 18 and up will receive free over-the-counter medications. No identification is required to participate.

Details will also be available on the N.C. MedAssist free pharmacy program, which mails free prescription medications directly to patients’ homes. For more information, visit www.medassist.org.

Church to open family life center

LUCAMA — Mary Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 6202 Wiggins Mill Road, will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its family life center at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 27.

Back-to-school fundraiser planned

A back-to-school plate sale is planned from 11 a.m. until sold out Friday, Aug. 2 at the Pride of Wilson Lodge, 6110 Ward Blvd. All proceeds will help purchase school supplies.

The $8 plates will include two meats, two vegetables and bread; the $10 plates will include three meats, two vegetables and bread. Meat choices are chicken, fish, pork ribs, turkey barbecue and pork barbecue. Vegetable choices are cabbage, green beans, potatoes and slaw. Bread choices are dinner roll and hush puppies.

Delivery is available for five or more orders or more by calling 252-237-8016.

Relay for Life yard sale slated

NASHVILLE — Sandy Cross United Methodist Church, 3725 Sandy Cross Road, will have a yard sale fundraiser for Relay for Life from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 3. Ham biscuits will also be sold. Yard sale proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society through the church’s Fruit of the Spirit relay team.

Church offering first aid class

Mount Hebron Church, 700 Pender St. S., will offer a first aid class from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4. The class is $55 per person. Minimum enrollment is nine people and maximum enrollment is 20. Church to hold women’s conference

MIDDLESEX — Floods Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 9646 Stoney Hill Church Road, will hold a women’s conference titled “Songs, Stories and Stewards” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

Amy Kornegay will serve as guest speaker. Breakfast, lunch and child care will be provided. The conference will include special music, a silent auction and a book swap. Attendees are asked to RSVP on or before Thursday, Aug. 1 by emailing bissettesunshine@gmail.com.
