Health center plans Wednesday open house

The Wilson Community Health Center at 202 E. Green St. will host an open house all day Wednesday, Aug. 16 in celebration of National Community Health Center Week.

Youth crime prevention panels to meet

ROCKY MOUNT — The Edgecombe and Nash County Juvenile Crime Prevention Councils will meet at 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17 at the East Carolina Agricultural and Education Center, 1175 Kingsboro Road.

Rwandan orphan to share testimony

TARBORO — Alex Nsengimana, an orphan from Rwanda who received a shoebox from Operation Christmas Child one year after arriving at an orphanage, will speak from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19 at First Baptist Church, 605 Main St.

Speaker to offer gardening tips

Janie Thomas will be speaking about great gardens at 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21 at the Wilson Agricultural Center, 1806 Goldsboro St. SW. Attendees are asked to bring a 12-inch container and $5 and each will go home with a “Thriller, Filler, Spiller” container.

Tickets on sale for Wilson Idol

The Wilson Idol community talent show will be held 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9 at Fike High School, 500 Harrison Drive. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Advance tickets are available from Stevens Funeral Home, the Arts Council of Wilson, any of the contestants and online at Eventbrite.com.
