JAMESTOWN — With its 30th win of the season, Downeast Association of Sports for Homeschoolers (DASH) advanced to the championship game of the North Carolinians for Home Education Athletic Commission junior varsity boys basketball tournament Friday at the Ragsdale YMCA gym.

The United defeated the defending state champion South Charlotte Thunder, 58-44, and will face North Wake Storm in Saturday’s championship game at New Garden Friends School in Greensboro. Tip-off is at 11 a.m.

Elijah Skinner led a trio of DASH scorers in double figures with 16 points while Jordan Bailey netted 14 points and Jacob Dienes added 11 points. The United (30-4) only led 20-14 at halftime but was able to slowly expand its lead in the second half despite shooting 17 of 36 (47.2 percent) from the foul line for the contest.

This is DASH’s first trip to the NCHEAC final four.
