GOLDSBORO — Sheriff’s deputies say a northern Wayne County woman was caught with heroin during a Thursday traffic stop.

Deputies found 37-year-old Jessica Brooks West of 420 Old Black Creek Road near Fremont driving a car on the south side of Goldsboro. The car’s owner had reported West for using the vehicle without permission, according to a Wayne County Sheriff’s Office news release.

West was taken into custody on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. When deputies removed her from the car, she allegedly told them she had a hypodermic needle. A search revealed heroin and West was also charged with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the sheriff’s office.

West was booked into the Wayne County Detention Center under a $6,000 secured bond.
