A Bailey man wanted in five counties is being sought on felony theft charges after allegedly swiping fishing reels from a Wayne County bait and tackle shop.
Authorities are seeking 30-year-old David Anthony Ruffin Jr., one of two suspects in an Oct. 9 theft at EZ Bait and Tackle, 2049 U.S. 117 S. outside Goldsboro. His alleged accomplice, 24-year-old Christin Ann Rider of 6640 Elm St. in Bailey, was arrested on Oct. 11.
Deputies in Wayne and Nash counties worked together to identify Ruffin and Rider as suspects seen on surveillance video stealing several fishing reels from the tackle shop, Capt. Shawn Harris of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Wilson County deputies located Rider and served her with arrest warrants on charges of felony larceny and felony conspiracy to commit larceny in the Wayne County case. She was jailed in Wilson under a $500 secured bond.
Harris said Ruffin faces the same charges as his alleged accomplice and is wanted on additional unserved warrants. In total, Ruffin faces 11 outstanding charges in Wilson, Nash, Wayne, Wake and Franklin counties.
Authorities describe Ruffin as a white man standing about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing about 165 pounds who has lived in Nash County and had a last-known address in Bailey. Anyone with information on Ruffin’s whereabouts is asked to call the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office at 919-731-1481 or the Nash County Sheriff’s Office at 252-459-4121.
