GOLDSBORO — A rural Wayne County woman was arrested on a meth possession charge Friday after sheriff’s deputies stopped an SUV she was riding in.

Deborah Ann Reeves, 36, of Gurley Dairy Road west of Pikeville, was arrested after the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team conducted a traffic stop on a silver Ford Explorer in northwestern Goldsboro, sheriff’s Maj. Richard Lewis said in a news release.

Deputies say sheriff’s office K-9 Shorty alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle and Reeves was caught with meth and an unspecified Schedule IV controlled substance during a probable cause search of the driver and passengers.

Reeves was charged with one count of possession of methamphetamine and taken to the Wayne County Magistrates’ Office, where she was issued a $2,000 unsecured bond.
