GREENSBORO — Fike High graduate John Gliarmis kicked a pair of extra points and his twin brother, Walker, added another for the East squad but it wasn’t enough as the West claimed a 23-21 victory Wednesday in the North Carolina Coaches Association’s East-West All-Star Game at Grimsley High’s Jamieson Stadium.

The West rallied from a 14-3 deficit early in the third quarter to score 20 straight points and take a 23-14 lead. The East scored with 1 minute, 25 seconds left and Walker Gliarmis’ PAT cut the lead to two points. However, an onside kick attempt by John Gliarmis went out of bounds and the West held on.

John Gliarmis connected on both of his extra-point attempts.

Southern Nash product Abe Rodriguez saw action on both sides of the line for the East, helping out on two tackles on defense.
