Troopers have charged a woman in connection to a Sunday crash that killed an elderly woman.
Cesarea Guerra DeRangle, 44, was driving a 2008 Dodge Caravan on Gardners School Road when she ran a stop sign and struck a 2017 Toyota Camry driven by 85-year-old Geraldine Lindsey of Elm City, according to N.C. Highway Patrol First Sgt. Steven Dail.
Lindsey was traveling west on Webb Lake Road, officials said.
Lindsey was transported to Wilson Medical Center and later died as a result of the two-vehicle wreck, officials said.
The wreck occurred shortly after 2 p.m.
DeRangle was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
The wreck is still under investigation, Dail said.
