The Eastern North Carolina Athletic Officials Association will host a series of clinics for baseball and softball umpires in Wilson at Hunt High and in Rocky Mount and North Carolina Wesleyan College.
The clinics at Hunt will be held in the mobile classroom located behind the gym on the next three Mondays (Feb. 12, 19, 26) at 7 p.m. for each clinic.
The clinics at N.C. Wesleyan will take place in Room 105 in the Taylor Center on each Wednesday in February (7, 14, 21, 28) with each starting at 7 p.m.
Requirements for aspiring umpires include the following: register with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, attend 12 hours of local clinics, work eight hours of scrimmages and attend the ENCAOA state clinic and association meeting.
Participants also should have registered with the ENCAOA by Jan. 15. Registration is still being accepted but with a $25 late fee.
