The Wilson County Department of Social Services is hosting its 20th annual Adoption Awareness Celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at Wilson Community Church. The church is located at 2301 Montgomery Drive. The free public block party will be filled with an array of family activities including a jump and slide, obstacle course, rock climbing wall, the Colgate bus to teach about proper oral hygiene, a Wilson Fire/Rescue Services fire safety display, Safe Kids, Ident-a-Kid with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, face-painting, community engagement with the Wilson Police Department as well as information on becoming an adoptive or foster parent.
Free food will be available as well.
Wilson County DSS staff, along with several experienced foster and adoptive parents, will be on hand to provide answers to questions regarding financial issues with adoptions, selecting the right therapy services and how to become adoptive or foster parents.
