Tyler Gurganus helped his Fike High varsity baseball team beat Bunn on March 13, making him this week’s Farris & Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
Tyler, a senior outfielder, had a hit, drove in a run and scored one as the Golden Demons thumped the Wildcats 10-0 in what could have been the final game of the season.
The son of Bobbie Jo and Richard Gurganus of Wilson, Tyler has a 3.4 GPA at Fike, where he takes two honors courses. He also takes two online courses through Wilson Community College. Tyler is a member of Fike’s Student Booster Club.
He works part-time for Wilson Parks and Recreation Department and has played for Premier Showcase Baseball.
Tyler has served as a volunteer for Arc of Wilson County’s annual Wilson Gobble Wobble community run fundraiser. He has been accepted to and plans to attend East Carolina University.
